Chicago, IL and West Lebanon, NH – The Society for Vascular Surgery Patient Safety Organization (SVS PSO) has surpassed another milestone with over 400 participating centers, partnering with M2S to improve the quality of vascular healthcare. Participating physicians have captured nearly 350,000 cases across 12 different vascular procedures working with over 3,000 physicians. Since its inception in 2011, the VQI has spread across 46 states and expanded further into Canada.
Through regional and national benchmarking, the SVS PSO uses data for quality improvement (QI), collected through the M2S PATHWAYS clinical platform, to assist physicians and data managers to better understand clinical outcomes and follow up at a unique level of detail. The regional and national benchmarking is incorporated into broader QI programs, such as long term follow up, and QI events and webinars, based case studies and best practice.
“We are extremely excited about the growth of the VQI over the past six years,” said Dr. Jens Eldrup-Jorgensen, SVS PSO Medical Director. “The dedication to the VQI by the vascular community confirms our commitment to providing the best quality care to our patients.”
The VQI is comprised of 17 regional quality groups, which are fundamental for driving quality initiatives such as reduction in length of stay, re-admissions, and complications. In addition to improving quality within hospitals and outpatient facilities, the VQI supports vascular quality research and works with device companies to support post-market device surveillance projects.
James Wadzinski, SVS PSO General Manager, adds, “The growth in VQI participation has given us the scope to develop new resources, tools and events which will help guide VQI members in development of their own QI programs.”
